Sometimes when I am playing checkers, the game ends in a tie even though there are more moves to be made and there is plenty of time left on the clock. Why does this happen?

Sometimes when I am playing checkers, the game ends in a tie even though there are more moves to be made and there is plenty of time left on the clock. Why does this happen?
No. That is not the case. I can understand it if that were the case. But sometimes the game ends in a tie when one player has one stone left and the other has three! and there is still plenty of time left on the clock.
Hello Heywood Jablomee, I think that this is because you and your opponent have only two stones left, so that it is impossible for you or your opponent to win. Kind regards, John
