A suggestion of mine
Sometimes the server randomly disconnects or you do (because of non-stable internet connection). So, since you (or the other player) didn't forfeit/gave up (and it's an entirely technical issue) why do you lose (or win, in the case where the other player disconnects without his/her will) the game (and as a consequence, you lose points as well) ? Fair thing would've been to either call it a draw (1-1) , don't count it at all, or at least give the ability for these two players to compete again until one of them wins the game or disconnects on his/her will. I personally don't play for points/ranks (we all know this is an illusion of greateness and vain -for so many reasons, like A) you win by accident (the other player pockets the black ball accidentally) , B) you win someone who haven't practised enough (or it's his/her first game of that day) , C) you play with opponents with less experience than you, and other scenarios to consider) but it's frustrating too many players who go after ranks/score. My rank is (11) -last time i checked- and if this fair score in such situations (internet conmectivity problem/server malfunction-lag) wasn't around, i would easily had an (8) rank. If i was after score (which i'm really not, i just play for my enjoyment and to cure my boredom) that would surely made me upset. Might want to consider this suggestion. ~ Thanks in advance~
Thank you for sharing your thoughts in such detail. Disconnections can definitely be frustrating, whether they happen because of a server issue or an unstable connection.

Currently, any disconnection is treated as the end of a game, mainly to prevent abuse. This is why ratings are still affected, even if the disconnection was not intentional. So, if the disconnect happens on your end, you will lose and if the disconnect happens on your opponents end, you will win.

Personally, I believe that the fairest outcome would be for disconnected games to be considered null and void, with no rating change for either side. That way, players wouldn’t be penalised or rewarded for something outside of their control. Of course, implementing that system reliably would require development work to ensure it can’t be exploited.

Your suggestion has been noted and I’ll be sure it is passed along. In the meantime, using a stable connection and keeping browsers/devices updated is the best way to minimise the issue.

Thanks again for raising this.

Thanks, i appreciate it.
After discussing it further with Administration, I can share that the idea of making disconnected games “null and void” has been considered before, but unfortunately it could be misused very easily.

That’s why the current system treats all disconnections as the end of a game, regardless of the reason. While not perfect, it prevents intentional misuse and keeps things consistent for everyone.
Hey there, thanks for adding that up!

I get what the admin means by "it could be misused very easily" , like if two players with good ranks played and deliberately one of them logged out from his/her Wifi/cable internet, so even if he/she was about to lose, it's like he/she never did at all.

But i guess it would be a good thing to just add some kind of mark next to that particular game so regardless of the rank-points, it would be recorded as somewhat ambiguous. Perhaps the 🌐 or ❓️🌐 emoji(s) next to that game, to refer to the connectivity issue?

Anyways, thanks again for your -and admin of course- assistance.
